GD Test - DUCT

Objectives of Duct Test : -

  • To know the pressure drop in the duct
  • To know the static pressure, dynamic pressure and velocity in the duct.
  • To determine the air ingress in the duct

Procedure for GD test - duct

  • Keep 100% flow rate while taking the readings.
  • Please fill the exact test location in the format i.e. port location e.g. APH outlet, ESP inlet etc.
  • As per our standard procedure, before taking the reading strictly follow below 03 points :
  • Reading should be taken from LHS to RHS.
  • Reading should be taken from Front to Rear.
  • Reading should be taken from Top to Bottom.
  • If you don't know about duct size or width, take the measurement for the same. Measure the port of distances from LHS end.
  • We have to take 5 to 6 reading of each port (that can be varying as per duct size).
  • First reading should be taken at 200 mm from the starting of the duct. And remaining reading should be taken at 300 mm to 400 mm (divide the reading as per duct size)
  • Mark the above distances on pitot tube for proper deep to get the exact reading.
  • The direction of Pitot tube is the most important thing.
  • To get accurate dynamic pressure Pitot tube direction should be parallel to flow direction.
  • To get accurate static pressure Pitot tube direction should be perpendicular to the flow direction.

BENEFITS OF Duct Test :-

  • Identification of Pressure Drop in the system.
  • Identify the flow pattern.
  • Identify the air ingress.
